There’s nothing quite like a perfectly grill-seared plate of barbecue for a hot summer evening. Or a tender, juicy, steak cooked to perfection with clean grill marks for a special occasion. Or, just because you love steak, I get it.
But finding the room for a full-size grill can be tricky, especially if you live in an urban area. Besides, a full-size grill isn’t often needed and uses more propane. Unless you’re planning on hosting grilling parties every other week of the summer, you can probably get away with a smaller version.
All too often, though, smaller also means inferior quality. The last thing you want is to get a new 2 burner grill only to discover it doesn’t have the temperature control you need. Worse, a poor design may cut down on already slim cooking space, severely limiting the utility of the grill.
Fortunately, I’ve taken the time to investigate the best 2 burner grills on the market. I’ve looked at both freestanding and tabletop designs and put together a list of the best 2 burner grills you can trust.
The Best 2 Burner Grills for Convenient, High-Quality, CookoutsWe’re talking about 5 standard 2 burner grills and 2 tabletop grills in this list. We’ll discuss the pros and cons with each, so you’ll have a better sense of what makes a great compact grill.

Best 2 Burner Gas Grills – Reviews
1. Char-Broil Signature Tru Infrared 325
If you’re looking for a high-performance option designed with experienced and novice grillers in mind, this is a good option. The 325 is a small grill with a big grill’s profile. It’s compact, with folding side tables, a fully enclosed storage cabinet for your propane and other needs, and it comes on wheels.
All that means that the 325 is a good choice if you’re working in a small space. If you need a grill that you can move in and out of storage to maximize the room in your yard or porch, the 325 has you covered.
It’s also an infrared grill, which means even temperature cooking and precise temperature control across your whole grilling surface. Combine that with the electro-start and you’ve got a time-saving combination for experienced grillers.
Those design choices aren’t just for the neighborhood grill master. Easy starting and even temperature make learning to grill simpler. Instead of worrying about burning or undercooking your protein, just focus on building good flavor and you’ll learn solid grilling technique along the way.
It features a warming rack, porcelain-coated grates, and 18,000 BTU on the main burner. If you have a natural gas hookup, and would rather use that than a propane tank, a simple conversion kit will let you do that too.
What We Liked:
- Even heat, and great heat control
- Has a warming rack
- Plenty of heat to sear, easy to switch to low heat for slow cook times
- Small footprint and easily moved to and from storage
What We Didn’t Like:
- Ignition switch wears out over time
- Smaller grill design is more vulnerable to wind
2. Weber Genesis II LX E-240
This is another high-end option with the benefit of giving you a great deal of control over how the grill operates. When you order this grill you can choose between two different colors, and pick either propane or natural gas hookups.
It features both a warming rack and a stainless-steel grate. It also has a small side burner that worked well for sauces and other side dishes. In addition, it has an instant-ignition switch for added convenience and to save you a little time.
Plus, since this is a Weber grill, it has a 10-year guarantee. That gives you a lot of peace of mind if you’re looking for a long-term tool in return for your investment.
The whole system is designed to limit flare-ups and fires, minimizing accidents without making it too difficult to get flame-licked flavor if that’s what you’d prefer.
The side table also has built-in tool hooks for added utility. Both burners have the full range of temperature, unlike many 2 burner grills that only allow 1 burner to reach its maximum temperature.
The main burner also gives you an impressive 25,000 BTU.
What We Liked:
- Powerful grill with high temperature
- Stainless steel is easy to clean and maintain
- Impressive warranty
- Wheels for ease of mobility
- Well-designed side burner, table, and tool hooks
What We Didn’t Like:
- Burners blow out easily at lower cooking temperatures
- Bottom wheels sometimes deform, not great for the weight of the grill
3. Giantex Propane Tabletop Gas Grill
This option is more designed for people looking for a truly portable grill, one they can take camping and on road trips, and for consumers looking to grill all year long without fighting the weather.
A tabletop grill does mean compressing the size of the grill, even for a 2-burner system, and the Giantex tabletop doesn’t offer a warming rack, side burner, or any of the other perks standard in a larger grill. That said, it’s a specialized design that does what it’s meant to do well.
It does need a relatively temperature proof surface to sit on, and it’s a good idea to put heat-resistant towels or other barriers underneath. But it directs the heat up well enough that additional surface protection isn’t always necessary.
The Giantex Tabletop is also designed for easy travel. The feet fold neatly under the grill, and it’s a lightweight design. No need to bring a wagon to move this grill.
Even with the minimal floorplan and lack of additional spaces, the grill is large enough to cook for many people at once. Especially if you’re only cooking one or two different items at a time.
It’s made from stainless steel and offers 20,000 BTU.
I’d recommend this grill to anyone looking for an alternative to camp and park grills. It’s also a good choice if you’re looking to grill indoors in rain and snowy weather but can’t or don’t want to add an indoor natural gas grill to your kitchen.
Tabletop grills are often something of a joke. They rarely perform as well as standing grills, and many can’t handle reasonable cooking heat. I’m very glad to have found a tabletop grill that beats the stereotype.
What We Liked:
- Smaller grill that performs like a free-standing grill
- Great for portable cooking
- Affordable option for indoor grilling
- Stainless steel is easy to maintain
What We Didn’t Like:
- Doesn’t provide much protection against grease fire flares
- Not a lot of heat containment may need additional protection depending on your cook surface
4. Char-Broil Performance 300
Another Char-Broil grill, this version isn’t quite as advanced as the 325, but it’s still a solid and effective grilling option.
Like the 325 it uses porcelain coating to help improve temperature distribution throughout the whole cooking surface. Check out this article for tips and tricks maintaining porcelain coated grill grates.
It does still have many of the convenience features of the 325. Both of the steel side tables fold down easily, and it has wheels for easy storage. Its electric ignition is fairly durable and effective.
The cabinet is easy to use, with an attractive design.
The stainless-steel burners are also durable and long-lasting. With some very basic maintenance, you can count on the burners surviving years of heavy, regular, use. The 300 also offers a fairly sizable grease pan. You’ll want to clean that out regularly to prevent spoilage, but it’s effective and cuts down on grilling mess.
What We Liked:
- Holds temperature well
- Reached high temperatures quickly
- Easy lock back casters provide stability
- Casters (wheels) make moving and storing the grill simple
- Durable, maintenance is a breeze
What We Didn’t Like:
- Flavor bars are a little too close to the burners, flares often
- The grease catch also catches rainwater from the grill
5. Weber Spirit II E-240
Another Weber option, this grill comes with the same 10-year guarantee and performs extremely well for a 2 burner system. The Spirit doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the Genesis, but it’s a quality grill all the same.
This version has porcelain-coated grates, like the Char-Broil grills we’ve already discussed. Maintenance and cleaning are simple, although you do need to be careful with all porcelain coatings not to scratch the surface.
The Spirit also comes with 2 side tables, easy electric ignition, and built-in tool hooks. Instead of sitting on 4 wheels, it as 2 solid legs, and 2 oversized wheels. It’s simple to move and steer, although it doesn’t quite match the simplicity of the Genesis.
You get 360 square inches of cooking space with the Spirit, more than enough space to cook for several people all at once. If you don’t mind cooking in rounds, it’s plenty for hosting gatherings and parties, too.
What We Liked:
- 10-year guarantee
- Even temperature distribution
- Oversized wheels make re-locating simple, but also offer stability
- Good sized cooking surface
- Great temperature control and high heat options
- Option of natural gas hookup, or propane design
What We Didn’t Like:
- Can be hard to put together, especially solo
- Open frame leaves tools and propane tank exposed
6. Blackstone Grills Tailgater
This design is a little different from most of the list. It’s still a high-performance grill though, even if it doesn’t look like one.
The Tailgater is designed for exactly that. It’s a great backyard grill, but it really shines as a free-standing but portable option. This is a good grill to take to game day, camping, family picnics, and more.
The griddle attachment increases the flexibility of this grill a good bit as well. If you need a one-stop all-purpose camping cook tool, this is a good choice. The grill will handle your protein and even grill fresh vegetables, while you can cook eggs, sauces, and more on the griddle surface.
It is slightly disappointing that the two burners don’t have equal temperature output, the main grill gets hotter. But, even with that limitation, you’ll be able to meet most grilling challenges easily.
It also avoids many of the problems with portable grill options. The Tailgater has a highly durable heat vent. Its stand is stable as long as you can find a relatively level surface to set up. It’s easy to pack away and easy to set up. You can even clean the grill easily since it’s made from cast iron. Between griddle and grill, you get 512 square inches of active cooking surface.
The main downside with this option is that it weighs a whopping 75 lbs. Having an extra set of hands to help you set up and tear down this grill is a must.
What We Liked:
- Flexible cooking surface offers both grill and griddle
- Stable legs
- Great for camping, tailgating, and family gatherings
- Heat vents in a controlled manner
- Doesn’t eat too much fuel for temperature
What We Didn’t Like:
- Heavy design for a semi-portable grill
- Difficult to fully level grill if you’re on an uneven surface
7. Cuisinart Professional Tabletop Grill
Cuisinart has managed to create a solid tabletop grill that works well as a portable grill. Their professional grill can even serve as your main grill if you have limited space and need something that can be put away in a closet when it’s not in use.
Like the other tabletop grill on our list, this one does have some struggles with holding heat, which means you should plan on heat protection for your cooking surface. But it still manages to reach and maintain high heat without burning through too much fuel. Overall, it works well, so long as you’re prepared for its challenges.
At only 22 lbs, a little lighter even than the Giantex offering, you can take the Cuisinart tabletop grill wherever you want to. Even compact cars and smart cars will have plenty of room for a grill, propane, and all your grilling supplies.
I was really impressed with the thermometer on this model. Precision temperature control is important to get great results but is often dependent on unreliable thermometers and your own experience. The Cuisinart provides a thermometer that works, and lets even novice grillers get a great sear, and slow-smoked meats, easily.
It’s also large enough to handle bigger jobs like steaks, pork chops, and pre-searing roasts, so don’t feel limited to burgers and sausages just because it’s a 2 burner compact setup.
What We Liked:
- Entirely stainless steel construction
- Accurate built-in thermometer
- Folding legs
- Lightweight design is easily portable
- Suitable for a wide variety of cooking styles
What We Didn’t Like:
- Bleeds a fair amount of heat, often need to protect your cook surface
Conclusion:
We’ve presented a variety of different 2 burner grill designs and styles, but each represents some of the best technology in their niche.
We’re confident that there’s something on this list for everyone. But, even if my picks didn’t tick all the boxes on your grilling wish list, hopefully, you’re more confident in your choice.
At least you should have a better grasp of what makes for a great grill, and that can only help.
